It was well and truly a dominating performance by the hosts and it was so easy for them to thrash India 4-1 once again in their favourable conditions. India were at the receiving end and they lacked the killer punch to blow the English team away. The visitors barely have positives to take from the series.
They did their best and we must admit that the English players played much better than the Indians. They didn’t give any snippet of breathing space for India to go for the kill and the fifth Test result speaks everything. India lost the fifth and the final Test by a margin of 118 runs. For the first in 26 years, India loses 4 matches in a five-match Test series.
It was not a perfect outing for India in England as they managed to win just a T20 series alone and they lost ODI and Test series subsequently. Other than Virat Kohli, no batsmen performed consistently. Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were decent and KL Rahul did manage to pick up the pace in the final Test but it was too late.
Indian bowlers bowled really well as they maintained the variations and mounted pressure on the English batsmen. But, the all-round English performance was too good to put India in the back foot.
