Kerala is constantly fighting the worst floods ever in 90 years that led to 20,000 crore loss, something which is hard to imagine. Celebrities, common people are doing their best to donate money for the flood relief work.
The United Arab Emirates hit the headlines recently as they offered a great financial assistance of Rs 700 crore for Kerala relief funds. The news was confirmed by the Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday, as per the inputs from the news agency ANI.
The official announcement was made a couple of days after the Gulf nation said that it would be establishing a national emergency committee in a bid to provide relief assistance in Kerala, as per the reports in UAE media.
Considering current Kerala’s situation that had gone from bad to worse, UAE’s Vice-president Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to extend contributions to those affected by the flash floods. “The state of Kerala in India is currently witnessing huge floods, the most devastating in a century. Hundreds have been killed, hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Ahead of Eid Al Adha, do not forget to extend a helping hand to our brothers in India,” he tweeted.
Mohammed added that Keralites have played an important role in the development of UAE and hence it is his government’s duty and responsibility to help and support those unfortunate ones. It is learnt that there are 2 million Indians in the UAE i.e 27 per cent of the country’s population.
