We are speechless and so many are filled with emotions and are lost for words! End of an era! India lost a great son. India broke into tears. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, may your humble soul find peace. Bharat Ratna and 3-time PM cremated with state honours. Thousands join the funeral procession in the national capital.
India will never be the same as before. He has been a father figure to all the senior leaders in India including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vajpayee, leader of the ages has been an epic source of inspiration to millions. His noble thoughts will live on and he is probably the only leader who used to get claps and appreciation from oppositions for his epic speeches and his great work. That was the impact created by him.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister of India for three times, first for a term of 13 days in the year 1996 and for a period of 11 months from 1998 to 1999, and then he extended his contributions from 1998 to 2004.
He was a prominent member of the Indian Parliament for over 4 decades, being elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house, ten times, and twice to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house. He served as the Member of Parliament for Lucknow, UP until 2009 when he called it quits from politics owing to health concerns.
Mr. Vajpayee was conferred India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, by the President of India in 2014. It was officially declared by the Modi government in 2014 that Vajpayee’s birthday on December 25 would be remembered as Good Governance Day.
The highly-respected leader gave the country Swarnim Chaturbhuj (Golden Quadrilateral), that connected four capitals (Delhi Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai) together. He ignored international pressure and then carried out extensive Pokhran nuclear tests. He turned around the economy from below 5% growth rate to 8% growth rate.
He was the driving force behind the Biggest Telecom Revolution in India. During his stint as the tallest leader, he approved India’s first metro rail project. In addition to that, he significantly improved the relations with US, China and Israel.
Above all, he was a good human, great poet and an orator as well. He was well liked by party men and was even respected by his opponents. With all qualities, he carved out a reputation for himself as a true gentleman.
The Youth extends deepest condolences to the tallest leader and statesman. We pray for your humble soul to find peace. Thank you for being an epic source of inspiration to Indians and a big thank you for everything you’ve done for the country.
