Bus conductor beats rtd IAS officer over fare dispute, watch video

News of disputes during public transport across the country often makes headlines. One such shocking case came to light recently, when a bus conductor beat up a retired IAS officer over a fare dispute. The video of this incident is going viral on social media.

According to sources, 75-year-old retired IAS officer RL Meena was allegedly attacked by a bus conductor in Jaipur after a dispute over Rs 10 extra fare, police confirmed on Sunday. The incident occurred on Friday when Meena was not dropped at his scheduled stop, the Kanota bus stand on Agra Road, as the conductor did not alert him. As a result, the bus reached the next stop at Naila.

According to Uday Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Kanota police station, the argument started when Meena refused to pay the extra fare, according to a news agency PTI. During the clash, the conductor recognized as Ghanshyam Sharma, pushed Meena, leading to the retired officer slapping him. After this, the conductor allegedly attacked Meena in response.

Meena filed an FIR against Sharma at Kanota police station on Saturday. After the complaint, Jaipur City Transport Services Limited suspended the conductor for misbehavior. Millions of people viewed the viral video; everyone shared different reactions.

A user writes that it is very important for the conductor to get a legal lesson. Even if the elderly person came forward by mistake, he should have been made to get down with respect. There was a need to show sympathy towards the elderly, and that too when he was a respected officer. He must have been honest too; that is why he is going by bus.

Another user writes, “This conductor is not the owner of a bus. The elderly person in front of him has been an officer of a district in his time. Such behavior with him is condemnable. Action should be taken against him.”

Another user writes, his union will also come to the rescue of this conductor and after being suspended for a few days, he will get his job again.
