Meanwhile, one of the Railway passengers praised food on Shatabdi Express. He took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Travelled in Shatabdi after a long time & I’m really impressed to see the food quality. Railway has literally changed a lot in the past 9 years,” wrote a user named Mr Sinha on social media.

He even posted a picture of the meal that he received, which featured some jeera rice, dal, potatoes, chicken and some chapati. The tweet quickly went viral. Notably, Union Minister Darshana Jardosh replied, “I am glad you enjoyed the food service in #NayeBharatKiNayiRail.”

In recent years, passengers on Indian trains have increasingly raised concerns about the quality and hygiene of food served onboard. Complaints have highlighted instances of unhygienic conditions, including sightings of cockroaches and rats near food preparation and serving areas. For many travelers, this has not only raised doubts about food safety but has also cast a shadow over their overall travel experience.

Passengers have taken to social media and review platforms to share their disappointing experiences, with some even sharing images and videos that reveal poor food quality and unsanitary conditions in train kitchens and storage compartments. This problem isn’t limited to any one region but has been reported across various train routes in India, bringing to light a widespread issue that affects millions of travelers annually.
