The controversial statement by Annu Kapoor has created a stir on social media. This statement was given by him in a recent interview with ANI. He has said that in India, an attempt is made to show Muslims in good character, while Pandits are made fun of. Annu Kapoor said that despite the story of a Hindu coach in ‘Chak De! India’, the makers deliberately showed a Muslim in a good way.

During the conversation, he showed displeasure over ‘Chak De! India’. This film, which came in the year 2007, was directed by Shimit Amin. In the film, Shahrukh Khan played the role of hockey team coach Kabir Khan. ‘Chak De! ‘India’, Annu Kapoor said, ‘This film is based on a Hindu coach Negi sahab (Mir Ranjan Negi), but they deliberately portrayed the character as a Muslim.’

He further said, ‘This is what happens in India. They try to show a Muslim in a good role and make fun of a Pandit. After this, to put a label on it, they start talking about the ideas of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb i.e. Hindu-Muslim unity.’ ‘Chak De! India’ was highly appreciated for its social message and promotion of sports spirit at its time. But this statement of Annu Kapoor has put forward a new perspective. This is not the first time that a film has been accused of religious or cultural bias.

It has been 17 years since the release of ‘Chak De! India’, but its story, songs, and characters have settled in the hearts of the audience. Shahrukh Khan looked perfect in the role of Kabir Khan and received a lot of praise. It was the third highest-grossing film of the year 2007.
