Recently, during an interview, Zaheer Iqbal and Sonakshi Sinha spoke openly about their marriage and Zaheer revealed his first meeting with his father-in-law and renowned actor Shatrughan Sinha. Zaheer said in the interview that he was slightly scared before the meeting when he came to seek permission from Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan to propose to her for marriage.
Zaheer Iqbal said, “I went to her house and I was nervous because till that moment I had never spoken to him (Shatrughan Sinha) face to face. I was scared of what I would do if he denied me. I started talking to him stuttering, I said Uncle that actually Sona must have told you and he said, yes yes she did tell me.
Then I said, you can ask if you want to know something about me. And then we had a perfect conversation about everything and he was very sweet and loving but I was very scared before entering the room and I was like what will I do if he says no. And then it was my mistake that I said Uncle I have already bought the ring, just to let him know that now you please don’t say no.
Zaheer Iqbal further says, ‘I understand he has an image for being intimidating, but in reality, he is very true, calm by nature, and one of the kindest people I’ve met in a long time.’
Sonakshi Sinha said, “When I told my father about us, I was also very nervous. I didn’t know how he would react. I was trying to keep it cool. I asked him, “You guys aren’t worried about my marriage, you haven’t asked me anything about it?” He said, “I have asked your mother to ‘ask your daughter’.
Then, I told him that there was a guy named Zaheer in my life, and he said, ‘Yes I had read it too’. He said, ‘You guys have grown up; Miya Biwi Raazi toh Kya Karega Qazi’. I said, ‘Oh, that was easy!’ I realized how calm and composed my father was. He was supportive of our relationship.”
