Famous South Indian actor Nagarjuna, who is well-known for his appearances in Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga, has made the decision to cancel his scheduled trip to the Maldives on January 17. This alteration in the actor’s vacation plans is a result of the contentious comments made by certain people from the Maldives concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Nagarjuna, known for his work on Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga, was all set for his Maldives trip. But plans changed after a YouTube episode with the Telugu Film Producers Council. He announced his trip cancellation there. The reason? Negative comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite the negativity, he didn’t cancel out of fear or as part of a boycott. It was his decision, he made it clear.
During the YouTube episode, Nagarjuna revealed that he had been tirelessly dedicating himself to the shows Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga for a staggering 75 days without any respite. However, he shared with great excitement that he has now made the decision to cancel his planned travel arrangements and instead look forward to embarking on a journey to the enchanting islands of Lakshadweep in the forthcoming week.
Expressing his disappointment with the comments made against PM Modi, Nagarjuna emphasized, “Whatever they have said or the statements they have made were not healthy at all, and it’s not right, and he is our Prime Minister. He is leading 1.5 billion people. He is the leader of 1.5 billion people, and whatever they have done is not right… They are facing the repercussions. There is usually a reaction to an action.
Highlighting the beauty of Bangaram Islands in Lakshadweep, Nagarjuna hinted at his upcoming visit to the Indian archipelago. He also suggested that lyricist MM Keeravani consider exploring Lakshadweep soon.
The controversy in the Maldives erupted following disparaging remarks made by some individuals towards India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Lakshadweep Islands. PM Modi had shared pictures of his visit, showcasing moments of relaxation on the beach and engaging in snorkeling activities.
In response to the controversy, The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced a boycott of shoots in the Maldives. The industry body urged its members and others in the entertainment sector to choose locations in India for both work and leisure. Several celebrities, who are typically associated with the Maldives, have also been seen endorsing Lakshadweep as an alternative destination.
