In great news in this direction, the University of Wollongong (UoW) Australia today unveiled its UoW India identity at Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar, the first to have an International Branch Campus (IBC) in India. Is moving towards becoming one of the foreign universities.
The milestone was marked by UOW’s global brand ambassador and renowned cricketer Adam Gilchrist as well as the university’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Patricia M. Davidson. The Indian identity reflects the university’s commitment to the country and is a step towards establishing the UOW GIFT City teaching base, which is soon set to offer Australian degrees to Indian students.
Gilchrist and other UOW officials first visited Jamnabai Narsee School in Gift City, where the superstar Australian cricketer played a game of cricket with the school students and presented them with signed cricket bats. At the unveiling of the UOW India recognition, Professor Davidson announced the VC Leadership Scholarship India recipients. Seventeen-year-old Chaitanya Vishwajit Ambike from Bengaluru is the recipient of this year’s scholarship and will begin studying for a Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced at UOW in February 2024.
According to reports from online sources, two Australian universities have approached the central government to set up independent offshore campuses in India. After hearing this news, different types of reactions are coming out from the people.
