After a battle between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canadian journalists say that Trudeau has lost this battle. This controversy has especially increased among people from different regions of the world regarding the relationship between Justin Trudeau and Narendra Modi and has now become a part of the debate.
Just last week, Justin Trudeau returned to Canada from the G20 in India and then stood up in Parliament the very next day to accuse the Indian government of possible involvement in the murder of Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey.
Trudeau said there were “credible allegations” of Indian involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a 45-year-old Sikh leader who was killed by masked gunmen in Surrey, outside Vancouver, in June. For years, India has said that Nijjar, an Indian-born Canadian citizen, has terrorism links, a charge Nijjar has denied. And within days, Justin Trudeau continued to say that he had credible allegations and credible evidence.
Canadian journalist Wyatt Claypool found Justin Trudeau’s behavior perplexing. Trudeau had made allegations in Parliament without providing any supporting evidence. When pressed by journalists for proof, Trudeau would evade the question and revert to his previous stance, claiming to have credible allegations. He also acknowledged that American diplomats and intelligence agencies from the Five Eyes alliance had shared information with Canada, suggesting possible Indian involvement in the Nijjar killing.
Wyatt Claypool added, “I’m uncertain whether Justin Trudeau considers this a viable campaign strategy or if his ego has been bruised by his past troublesome visits to India, leading him to target Modi and the BJP with this approach. In summary, it was a catastrophe. If India did indeed eliminate Nijjar, and that possibility still exists, perhaps we lack the evidence to substantiate it.”
Further said, “It’s important to emphasize that making an accusation should always be accompanied by supporting evidence. And when I say that Justin Trudeau seems to be admitting defeat just today when he was in Montreal, as reported by many Canadian media outlets and Indian media outlets. Justin Trudeau expressed a desire to enhance the bond between the Canadian and Indian governments, underscoring the special and significant nature of the relationship between India and Canada.”
