Being an actress ain’t as easy as it looks. Beyond being beautiful, one has to know the tricks and trade of acting skills, which is what helps have a prolonged career in the cinema.
The South Indian film industry is as big if not bigger than Bollywood itself. The South Indian audience is known for their dedication and the abundant love that they shower their actors with. They idolize movie stars and treat them with a lot of respect.
At the same time, some actresses have gone through terrible casting couch experiences in their career. Meanwhile, South Indian actress, Nayanthara opened up the shocking details on her casting couch experience wherein she added that she was once asked for favours if she wanted to get a huge role in a movie.
She turned down in the first place and had the strong belief that she would be able to carve out a reputation for herself on her own merit. She disclosed that her journey as an actress has not been that easy.
“There is so much that I have learnt, so much that I have gone through, but it is all been nice. Whatever mistakes I have made, the good and bad phases (I have been through), everything is good now. It is all a learning experience. It is not easy to be in the industry for 18-19 years, but the audience and God has been kind to me. I feel blessed. I don’t know how to put the whole thing together (in words).”
“If you are honest to your craft, if you do your work well, it works. The audience connects with you, they fall in love with you, they celebrate you, which becomes the biggest joy of life,” she said.
Kollywood’s Lady Superstar began her career as a TV host and debuted on the small screen with the show Chamayam. She then kick-started work on her first film, Manassinakkare, directed by Sathyan Anthikad, in 2003.
Her hit movies include Viswasam, Naanum Rowdy Thaan, Darbar, Bigil, Raja Rani, Chandramukhi, Imaikkaa Nodigal. Her real name is Diana Mariam Kurian.
