Day by day, Indian Railways is witnessing a lot of ticketless passengers and they have also been collecting fines accordingly. The Central Railway has recently released a statement according to which they have collected massive earnings of Rs. 59.36 crore from ticket-less as well as irregular travellers for the period from April to June.
As far as the current year is concerned, the Central Railway has caught over 10.85 lakh cases of ticket-less commuters and unbooked luggage from April to June. “In June, a total of 3.26 lakh cases of ticketless or irregular travel and unbooked luggage were detected as against 2.58 lakh cases in the corresponding month of last year i.e. June 2017, showing an increase of 26.52 per cent,” the railway ministry said in a statement.
In the recently-concluded June month alone, the Central Railways have collected Rs.17.20 crore from ticketless or irregular passengers. The earnings showed an increase of 34.62% when compared to the earnings of Rs.12.78 crores registered during June 2017.
The earnings noticed from April to June this year travel collected Rs.59.36 crore as against Rs.54.00 crore registered during the last year depicting an increase of 9.91 per cent in earnings.
Additionally, during the month of June 2018, it is learnt that 391 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were noticed and Rs. 4.00 lakhs recovered as a fine.
