Have you sometimes wondered how the role would be better if it were played by someone else? Well, it’s the same for filmmakers, they all have their choices about celebs or actors playing certain characters. However, sometimes their first choice does not work out as the actors ask for an exuberant amount of money.
But not all filmmakers can designate such a high value for specific roles and so they have to move on to another actor who will be willing to work under their prescribed budget.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shah Rukh Khan lost out on really big films because of their insanely high fee demands:
The role of Sachin Kantilal Mathur was initially given to Nawazuddin. He was approached by the filmmakers to take up the role however, reportedly he insisted on charging 3.5 crores for it and even a small amount of profits as well. Eventually, the role was passed on to Anu Kapoor.
On the other hand, Ranveer Singh was very critically acclaimed for his role as Sultan Alauddin Khilji in the movie, ‘Padmaavat’. However, reportedly he was not the first choice of the filmmakers.
They approached Shah Rukh with the opportunity but had to back down because the actor charged 90 crores to be a part of the film. They simply could not afford to pay him that amount as it would severely hamper the making of the film itself.
