Making it big in the Bollywood industry is not an easy feat. Even when these actors have a history of acting in their families, some are not so well received by the audience as well as others are. Sure, it may give you better exposure and more opportunities but that is not all it takes.
Many actors struggle for years to make a mark on the industry and succeed through perseverance and some find a new path for themselves.
Let’s take a look at some actors who quit Bollywood and went on to pursue other careers:
1. Rajat Bedi:
You might remember Rajat for his negative role in the movie ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. He played several characters that portrayed a guy who was more of a womanizer during his acting career. Even though he was a part of successful films like ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘International Khiladi’, and ‘Jaani Dushman’ he could not find the financial footing he was looking for.
At that time exposure did not amount to what it is now and therefore reportedly shifted to Canada for better business projects.
2. Rahul Khanna:
The son of actor turned politician Vinod Khanna had everything he would need to make it big not just his acting skills but also his dexterity in writing was a plus for the actor. He experienced early success in his career as an actor.
He ended up winning the Best Male Debut award for Deepak Mehta’s ‘Earth’. We also saw him on-screen in Spike Lee’s 3 A.M. Unfortunately that was not enough for the actor to continue on his venture as an actor and currently works as an influencer and model in social media. He is the elder brother of Akshaye Khanna.
3. Sahil Khan:
This former actor turned on a new leaf and emerged as a fitness entrepreneur. With a body that can make you drool Sahil made his debut as an actor with the movie ‘Style’. His movies did fairly well and he seemed to be accomplishing a lot as well. It was around that time that he was featured on the Stardust cover which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan as well.
However, there is a lot of controversy surrounding the actor’s exit from the industry. He has been seen blaming Salman for dropping him from one of his movies which led him to quit his acting career on record. As a fitness enthusiast, he achieved a lot as well and is a recipient of many awards by various bodies in Mumbai.
4. Chandrachur Singh:
Chandrachur is seen in many Bollywood movies portraying the boy next door alongside Shah Rukh Khan, some of which include ‘Kya Kehna’, and ‘Josh’. Gradually with a decline of good roles and good content coming towards him, he decided to take a step back from the acting scene and venture into other options. Nevertheless, we can see him in Disney+Hotstar’s ‘Arya’.
5. Deepak Tijori:
When it came to acting Deepak is said to have given actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, and Akshay Kumar a run for their money. He has been a part of many films, some of which include, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’, ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’. Although he had quite a good run on screen as well he decided to quit acting. Consequently, instead of leaving the Bollywood industry completely, Deepak made a major switch from an actor to a director.
