Indian Army counter-attacked four ISIS terrorists in a biggest daredevilry terror strike between the security forces and terrorists in Anantnag’s Srigufwara area in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. In the crack-down, ISIS terror commander Dawood Sofi along with his three helping hands were gunned down by the Indian Army.
Jammu & Kashmir DGP S.P. Vaid added that the terrorists reportedly connected to Islamic State Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK). The fierce encounter is currently underway in the region and also the internet services have been cut off to ensure safety.
Recently, two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists, including a suspected commander, were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Sunday, police confirmed. Lashkar-e-Taiba is one of the largest and most active Islamic terrorism militant agency in South Asia, running mainly from Pakistan.
According to a senior police official, the terror crack-down started in mid-afternoon at a village in Kulgam as the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Central Reserve Police Force and the Army, were performing operations in a bid to clear a national highway ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to be held on June 28, that had been targeted by terrorists last year.
“As the joint patrol approached towards the suspect house, a group of terrorists hiding inside fired indiscriminately on the security forces, to which forces retaliated cautiously leading to an encounter in the area,” the police told in a statement.
“We followed the standard operating procedure during which two terrorists were killed and one, who had joined militancy recently, surrendered. He has been taken into custody,” Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range) Swayam Prakash Pani was quoted as saying by TOI.
“Incriminating materials and huge quantity of ammunition were also seized from the site of encounter,” police said, adding a case had been registered.
“While two terrorists were killed, one local terrorist whose identity is being protected, surrendered at the encounter site before the police. The (surrendered) terrorist is in the custody of police,” Pani said.
The police further added that two terrorists were hiding in the house but were successfully eliminated by the security forces. One of the terrorists is believed to be a Lashkar commander. The fierce encounter is still ongoing. Indian security forces pulled off numerous wins since a month-long Ramzan ceasefire came to a close.
