Tension broke like geat in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district after Muslims allegedly pelted stones on Maharana Pratap Jayanti rally. No one expected this to happen on behalf of Eid. During violence, some six people were injured whereas more than 10 vehicles were set on fire and a several shops were deliberately damaged.
According to the police, muslim youths pelted stones on a procession being carried out on the special occasion of Maharana Pratap birth anniversary on Saturday afternoon. Also, about half a dozen people received minor injuries in the fierce encounter. Following such incident, the security force was positioned in the area.
The district administration has forced section 144 of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the district, forbidding the assembly of four or more persons. According to Shajapur district superintendent of police Shailendra Singh Chauhan, a procession of the Rajput community was going past Nai Sadak which is a Muslim-dominated area, when some people told them to turn down the volume of music being played in the procession.
“When the volume was not decreased, some Muslim youths allegedly pelted stones on the procession,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. Police have seized 12 people in association with the violence. Police have already begun their investigation as they are trying to get CCTV footages and other videos shot by people during the procession. However, SP Chouhan said the situation is under control after when the police force was deployed.
