You must have heard of such expressions from any Indian cinema critic: Bade parde Chote parde. You would find it unbelievable that films once thought to be infinitely more valuable than television.
TV actors were often considered less than famous movie stars, even though there is virtually no difference between Television series and movies in today’s streaming world, apart from the running time. But once, the TV actor establishes himself in the film industry, he becomes a huge success.
If this is not the apparent case, a considerable majority of the entertainers do not get paid enormously, are likely to appear on our television screens on various shows to stay in the industry. Here’s a list of some of these entertainers.
Shruti Seth
Renowned video jockey and entertainer Shruti Seth started her career as a TV host, and gained worldwide recognition with a role as Jiya on Shararat which opened for her big opportunities in Bollywood.
Despite appearing in a number of minor roles in films, she could not establish herself in the industry. She is although regular on comedic appearances on Hindi entertainment shows.
Rajeev Khandelwal
Rajeev Khandelwal is a film and television entertainer, composer, and host from India. He started his acting career with the TV show Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, in which he played the antagonist. He played the male lead in his first serial, Kahiin To Hogan which was extremely successful and his fan base grew with each role he played.
His fans were excited when he switched to films yet none of them made an impact on the box office. Following that, he appeared in a number of shows, including Time Bomb 9/11, Sun Leyna, Left Right Left, and Reporters (2015).
Hansika Motwani
Hansika Motwani is an Indian entertainer who mostly appears in Tamil films. Hansika appeared in many Telugu films as well, giving her first debut alongside Desamuduru, which proved to be a successful move in her life, earning her many honours, including a Filmfare Award. She also acts in Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada films.
Hansika began as a child artist who appeared in the TV show Shaka Laka Boom Boom and the film Koi Mil Gaya. She also played the lead in Himesh Reshammiya’s film Tera Surroor at the age of 16. The film, and her subsequent career as an adult in Bollywood, also failed.
Jay Bhanushali
Indian television personality and TV host, Jay is best known for his role as Neev in Ekta Kapoor’s Indian drama Kayamath, which aired on Star Plus and received huge love from his audience.
He appeared in several Bollywood films including Platform No.6 followed by Hate Story 2 and Ek Paheli Leela but none of them gave him the fame we thought he’d accomplish. Fortunately, he’s back on the small screen.
Anita Hassanandani Reddy
Anita, the beautiful and incredibly talented actress, has been a prominent figure on Indian television in recent decades. She is an Indian actress who primarily appears in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films and television series.

However his luck proved ill when it came to his career in Bollywood.

Prachi began her television career as the lead in the Zee TV show Kasamh Se. Her notable films include Life Partner, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Bol Bachchan, and I, Me, Aur Main. She is also an endorser, representative, and brand representative for Goa Tourism India. Desai is also the brand ambassador of Lux Lyra.
