You all must have heard the English proverb, “where there is a will, there is a way”, but this labourer’s daughter in Indore is living proof of the idiom.
Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has recently announced the class 10th board exam results on July 4 (Saturday) on its official website.
Bharti Khandekar, who was studying in a government school, has been given an apartment by the city’s civic body for scoring 68 per cent in class X examination.
Coming from an economically backward section of the society, labourer’s daughter has made her family feel proud. Bharti is a daughter of a daily wage worker who used to live on the footpath with her family. Despite her financial crisis, Bharti managed to secure first division in her Class X examination.
Bharti Khandekar, who was studying in a government school, aspires to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. After seeing her dedication, the Indore Municipal Corporation decided to gift her a 1BHK flat for her impressive performance.
After receiving the gift, she thanked the administration for the house, and also for making her future education free. “I secured 68 per cent in Class X. The credit of my success goes to my parents who worked hard to send me school. I am happy. I want to become an IAS officer. We were born on the footpath and studied there. We didn’t have a house to live in, we were staying on the footpath. I would like to thank the administration for gifting me this house and making my further education free,” said Bharti.
Bharti gave the credit of her success to her parents and also thanked her teachers and mentors. As soon as her father Dashrath came to know about the new house, he was on cloud nine. “My wife and I are daily wage labourers. My daughter passed Class X. I want her to become an officer. I have two sons also. We used to live on a footpath. We were gifted house as my daughter passed the examination with good marks,” he said.
Bharti can breathe a sigh of relief as all her hard work paid off. Hard work, determination and perseverance can steer you to touch the pinnacle of success. It is a big achievement for somebody from an economically backward family. It is a matter of pride for many youths who are financially weak.
