US President Donald Trump has recently thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for greeting him on the occasion of the 244th Independence Day of the United States.
On July 4, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulatory messages to citizens of the United States of America. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “I congratulate US President Donald Trump and the people of the USA on the 244th Independence Day of the USA”.
In response to PM Modi’s tweet, the US President thanked him and asserted that “America loves India”.
The Fourth of July celebrated as the American Day of Independence as on this day in 1776, the USA got independence from Great Britain. Responding to the greetings from the prime minister on the popular micro-blogging site, Trump said in a tweet: Thank you my friend. America loves India!

Amid the ongoing standoff between India and China along the border, the US has come out in India’s support. The two-nation have a ‘special relationship’ with each other.
Defence and strategic ties between India and the US have been on an upswing in the last few years. The deal with America for the procurement of Apache and Chinook attack helicopters has strengthened bilateral defence cooperation.
Soon after the Galwan valley clash in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives, the US released a statement expressing condolences to the families of the 20 Indian soldiers who attained martyrdom.
“We are closely monitoring the situation between Indian and Chinese forces along the Line of Actual Control,” a State Department spokesperson said. “We note the Indian military has announced that 20 soldiers have died, and we offer our condolences to their families,” the official said.
