In one of the significant chapters in the history of inspiring stories, a fruit vendor’s son has pulled off something great which others can only dream of. S Arun Kumar from Mysore, who is a PUC (Class 12) Karnataka State Board student from Mysore took the bull by the horns to qualify for the prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) as per the inputs by Hindu.
In a determined attempt to encourage and motivate the students to pursue basic science courses and single out for a research career in science, the Government of India has come up with an initiative of the KVPY that is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences funded by the Department of Science and Technology.
Arun Kumar, who is now a student from Sankalpa Gopalaswamy College, the son of a fruit seller named Shivanna Kumar has not only won the National Science Championship but also cracked a tough interview with the top scientists at the IISc, in what turned out to be the biggest achievement unlocked in his career.
Akshay Rao who is Academic in-charge in the college was already mesmerized by the sheer brilliance of Arun Kumar. He said that the management identified the student’s talent and hence he was asked to go through an extensive coaching in the college.
Having made use of the resources to good effect, he came out with flying colours.“We found that he was brilliant and put him through competitive examination coaching conducted by a dedicated cell in our college to train students. And he excelled,” Akshay Rao, Academic-in-charge in the college, told the Hindu.
Based on his outstanding performance, Arun Kumar is expected to seek admission at IISc. Having set high standards for himself, he is all set to pursue an integrated pure science course that would follow up to a PG and will get a scholarship to fund the course.
Arun Kumar has carved out a reputation for himself as a successful student and now he is an epic inspiration to many students. Arun Kumar’s father must be blissfully pleased as punch to see his son’s achievements as he couldn’t have asked for a better progress from his son.
