As we know that not only India but the entire world is going through a bad patch due to the coronavirus pandemic. Presently, the condition across India is critical due to COVID-19 outbreak. India’s current death toll from the coronavirus pandemic stands at 5,815, with the nation reporting over 2 lakh confirmed cases and out of them, more than 1 lakh people have recovered from the disease.
BJP President Tanavade said the party will urge all its workers (karyakartas) to only use “swadeshi products” and will request people to use India-made products. “We should boycott Chinese goods,” he said.
The BJP state president’s call for boycott of Chinese products comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about being self-reliant in the 21st century. PM Modi said that the COVID-19 crisis must be turned into an opportunity.
Bringing a new slogan – ‘Vocal for local’ – PM Modi urged the countrymen to promote swadeshi products and motivate others too in buying local products.
Mr. Modi said that young people should come forward in forming small organizations, motivating people, explaining and deciding “Come, we will buy only local, products, emphasize on local products.
Tanavade said, “Even children in India are angry with China over Coronavirus. A father recently told me that his son had requested him not to buy Chinese products henceforth’.’
Recently, tension rose between India and China over the Line of Actual Control (LAC). A clash took place between the Indian Army and Chinese troops at several points along the Line of Actual Control. This led to increasing tension between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
Following tensions between India and China, engineer-turned-education reformer Sonam Wangchuk took to Twitter to share a video which went viral on social media in no time. In the video, he says that while our soldiers are fighting Chinese troops on the border, we are buying Chinese products and goods which in turn gives China more money to invest in their army.
Soon after Wangchuk’s video went viral, #BoycottChina, #BoycottMadeinChina, #BoycottChineseApps and #BoycottTiktok began trending on social media.
Several celebrities and influencers including Milind Soman, Arshad Warsi, and others came in support of Wangchuk’s movement by deleting Chinese applications or giving up products made in China.
