Videos of health workers who had gone for a check-up of coronavirus suspects in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad on Wednesday, getting pelted with stones are going viral online and netizens are furious.
The incident that had happened in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday was dangerously shocking and heart-wrenching. In what could be termed as a shocking crime in Moradabad, a medical team and police personnel were attacked by a mob in Haji Neb Masjid area of Moradabad.
The health officials who were attacked, went there to screen people in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. As soon as the medical team started conducting screening of people in the area, an agitated mob started pelting stones at health workers. When they were stopped by police, they began to attack police personnel with stones. They vandalized vehicles and damaged public property.
A driver of an ambulance revealed that a large crowd had come out on the streets to assault health workers in the area. Several health staff have been reportedly injured in the incident. “When our team boarded ambulance with patient, suddenly crowd emerged and started pelting stones. Some doctors are still there. We are injured,” an ambulance driver said.
Doctors and healthcare workers were scared and they were throwing stones at them, then police personnel came to rescue them. The police urged the agitated crowd to exercise restraint, but they did not listen to them and hurled stones at the cops.
It has been learnt that a coronavirus patient had recently died in the area after which the healthcare workers reached the area to take the family members of the victim to a quarantine center to avoid further spread of the virus. On this, doctors and healthcare workers were surrounded by a large crowd and were brutally attacked by an angry mob.
According to one of the medical staff, thousands of people had thronged the streets to attack the team of doctors. In a way, Doctors, health workers, and policemen are putting their lives at risk and ensuring that we all are safe.
Thousands of people from a certain community attacked doctors who are still treating corona patients in the time of crisis despite knowing the fact that no vaccine is available in the world that can protect against COVID-19.
A case of attempted murder should be filed against the mastermind of the attack. Such cases of brutal attacks on policemen, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers are constantly happening across the country ever since India implemented lockdown across the country for 21 days.
