While India is making all necessary efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former MP from Azamgarh, Ramakant Yadav blamed BJP for diverting people’s attention from main issues in the name of coronavirus.
While speaking to the media, the SP leader said that Coronavirus is nothing but a rumour spread by the Modi government so that they could distract the public’s attention from the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens.
His video went viral on social media like wildfire, in which Ramakant Yadav can be heard making false allegations against the Central government. He said that the coronavirus outbreak in India has “been manufactured by the Centre to divert people’s attention” from issues like CAA, NRC and inflation.
The entire world is well aware of the coronavirus outbreak which originated in Wuhan, China. So far, the deadly virus has affected over 4.5 lakh people globally and the global death toll has risen to at least 21,000. SP leader, on the other hand, made false allegations of diverting folk’s attention from main issues against BJP. He said that the Modi government created the coronavirus in order to divert people’s attention from CAA, NRC.
Ramakant Yadav must be aware of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak which has claimed thousands of lives across the world, thereby the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak as a ‘pandemic’.
Being a senior leader in Samajwadi Party, he must know that in India alone, the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus have surpassed 600 so far, while more than 12 people have died in the country from the infection.
His irresponsible statement comes at a time when the entire nation is under complete lockdown in order to curb the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a complete lockdown for 21 days across India during his address to the nation.
However, he has been arrested by police under Section 3 of the Epidemic Act, along with Section 505 (inciting people to commit any offence), Section 188 (disobedience of order promulgated by public servant) and Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease which is dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Later, an FIR was lodged against him following orders from DIG Azamgarh Subhash Dubey after taking cognisance of his video which went viral on social media.
