Amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak, a 70-year-old man from Punjab died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of death cases to 4 in India.
By far, the virus has affected over 2 lakh people globally and the global death toll has risen to at least 9,000. As for India, the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus have surpassed 150 till now, while 4 people have died in the country from the infection.
COVID-19 has created an atmosphere of fear in the world. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak as a ‘pandemic’.
The 70-year-old man from Punjab who had returned from Germany via Italy on March 7 and had gone to Punjab the same day passed away linked to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
It is to be noticed that he was a patient of diabetes and hypertension and he has recently been tested positive for COVID-19.
Amid growing coronavirus tensions across the country, India has banned the entry of all international flights effective from March 22 to March 29. No international flights will land in India from the effective date.
The first death case was confirmed in India after a 76-year-old man from the southern state of Karnataka lost his life due to coronavirus and a 68-year-old woman from Delhi became the country’s second victim of coronavirus. The delhi woman came in contact with her son who had been tested positive for the virus.
Since then the son and mother both were suffering from cough and fever, both were admitted to hospital. The 68-year-old woman was also diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) has been in the news ever since a Kerala student was tested positive for the deadly virus. India is making all necessary efforts to prevent the fast-spreading disease. Recently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference with SAARC leaders on containing the deadly virus and extended $10 million as India’s contribution for a Covid-19 emergency fund. PM Modi made significant suggestions during the video conference.
PM Modi asked the citizens not to panic and asserted that the Indian government is taking necessary steps to prevent the fast-spreading disease.
