Everyone is well aware of the coronavirus outbreak which has spread over 100 countries across the world. By far, the virus has affected over 1.6 lakh people globally and the global death toll has risen to at least 5,000.
A video went viral on social media in which a British woman could be heard lauding the Indian government for taking significant steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus. She said that I was about to visit India but the Indian government suspended all tourist visas with immediate effect in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
She went on to say that one of his friends recently returned from India and he said that the way people were being screened at Delhi airport was phenomenal. He was stunned for a moment that people were getting screened left, right and centre, but when he arrived in London he found nothing at Heathrow airport. He said that the UK must learn from India how to handle the spread of COVID-19. The woman asked why the UK government is not able to take crucial steps to control the spread of the deadly virus.
India, on the other hand, has taken major steps to bring dangerous disease under control. “All existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organisations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020,” the Union Health Ministry said during the emergency meeting of the Group of Ministers on COVID19.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) had announced that the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak as a ‘pandemic’. The announcement was made just months after the deadly virus infection spread from China’s mainland Wuhan.
The first coronavirus case in India came to be known after an Italian tourist in Jaipur was tested positive for coronavirus and his wife showed initial symptoms of the virus and his wife also tested positive for the virus.
Later, 14 Italian tourists tested positive for the virus. They all have been kept under medical observation in an isolation ward. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also confirmed that 15 Italian tourists have been tested positive for the virus.
China too is finding it tough to bring the widespread infectious disease under control. India, on the other hand, has already evacuated its citizens from Wuhan, the epicentre of the deadly virus. Taking further steps, the Indian government has put a restriction on all tourist visas in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak. British woman is surprised by the way India is working to fight against COVID-19. The decision came into effect from March 13.
