A terrorist has been killed in a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Friday afternoon, police said.
The slain militant has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, who had joined militant ranks just a week ago.
Mudasir Ahmad Bhat is a resident of Shutloo Rafiabad and his father is Sanaullah Bhat. The encounter took place in Baramulla district, Kashmir.
According to police, Security forces received information about the presence of terrorists and soon the troops launched a cordon and search operation in Baramulla area.
The terrorist opened fire at cops when he was encircled by the forces during a cordon and search operations (CASO) in the area. Later, an encounter broke out between Ahmad and security forces in which three terrorists were gunned down.
“Based on specific information, a joint team of Army’s 32 RR and J&K Police’ SOG laid an ambush in the area. As soon as militants passed through the area, a brief exchange of firing took place between the militants and the security forces leading to killing of a militant,” a police official said.
The area has been cordoned off following the encounter and search operation has been launched. Terror activities have caused tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, but security forces are doing a great job in order to maintain law and order and ensuring safety in Jammu & Kashmir.
Tension rose between India and Pakistan just after the abrogation of article 370. Pakistan has been trying to disrupt the peace in Jammu and Kashmir through proxy war. However, the vigilance on the border has been beefed up by India and patrolling has been increased on the border. The troops are on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir.
