Two militants have been killed in heavy fire and shelling against terrorists but unfortunately, a CRPF jawan was also martyred. The incident took place in Lawaypora area outside Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said. The soldier was identified as Ramesh Ranjan. After his demise, loud chants of ‘Hindustan zindabad’ and ‘Bharat Maata ki jai’ echoed when the mortal remains of martyred CRPF jawan Ramesh Ranjan arrived the city. The encounter broke out after the militants on a bike opened fire on security forces posted at a mobile checking unit in Lawaypora area, a police official said. The two militants were gunned down by the security forces and the third militant was injured in retaliatory firing.
“Three people were riding a scooter, the person sitting in the rear got down and resorted to firing, one CRPF man was hit in the head but he fired back,” Zulfikhar Hassan, Additional DG CRPF said. “Two militants died and a third one was arrested, sophisticated arms and grenades were recovered from them,” he said.
According to police records, Zia-u-Rehman Wani had a connection with terror outfit LeT(Lashkar-e-Taiba). Terrorist Wani was involved in carrying out many terror attacks on guard posts, security forces. He has been involved in terror activities since 2018. Several terror crime cases were registered against him. Information was given by intelligence that militants would target security forces in Kashmir ahead of the 7th death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Father of martyred Ramesh Ranjan told media that the government should do something to eradicate terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir so that no other soldier would die. A Bharatiya soldier never dies. He may be martyred but still lives perennially in the hearts and memory of all Indians.
