A 52-year-old rickshaw puller was arrested by the Bareilly police for allegedly using a fake Facebook account in the name of IPS officer Nurul Hasan. The accused was identified as Javed who was living in Delhi and used to pull a rickshaw. At first, Javed had very few friends when he created his profile on Facebook. Later, he used IPS Nurul’s photo as his profile pic to lure young girls after which the number of friends increased to 5,000. Out of which, 3,500 were girls. As per terms and conditions, a Facebook user can have up to 5,000 friends so he could make 5,000 friends otherwise he would have made more friends.
Hailing from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, IPS Nurul Hasan is currently stationed in a district of Maharashtra. Hasan, who hails from a well-respected family, is popular on social media because of his honest work and service. Javed, a resident of Delhi, admitted to police that he was using IPS Hasan’s photo on Facebook for attracting girls and women. He managed to grab the attention of several girls towards his profile pic which was actually not his photo.
The revelation was made by him that he befriended hundreds of women and would chat with them for hours. Javed started exchanging obscene messages and lured the girls to send him their nudes and private pictures. Girls would send him nude pictures and messages like “I love you”. In response, Javed would send them “I love you too”. This is how the chat between Javed and girls happened. This continued for a long time until a student residing in Bareilly complained about the same to the DIG.
It was learnt that one of the girls named Mehnaz a resident of Bareilly, who developed an honest feeling for the swindler in the process. She wanted to marry Javed but he refused her proposal and stopped chatting with her. After the conversation stopped, Mehnaz and his mother approached the real IPS officer’s father with a marriage proposal.
Nurul Hasan’s father showed all the evidence and said that the person whom she was chatting with is not his son. but the girl and her mother insisted on marrying the IPS officer. When the girl was denied, she started threatening and blackmailing the IPS officer. Hasan’s father was then forced to lodge a complaint against the fraudulence.
After the complaint, Bareilly Police started investigating the matter. The police soon understood the matter that a rickshaw puller, a native of Delhi’s Dariyaganj area, had been operating a fake Facebook account in the name IPS officer which helped him attract many girls on Facebook. In fact, many women IPS and PPS officers were also taken in by his words. Eventually, Javed was nabbed by the Bareilly police his residence in Delhi after which he confessed to his crime.
