After the attack on the holy Gurudwara Nankana Sahib, the minority Sikh community has been facing more atrocities. The condition of Hindus and Sikhs are getting worse day by day. Everyone is familiar with the conditions of Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan that minorities in Pakistan have been facing religious persecution since 1947. These minorities are forced to convert to Islam or else flee Pakistan. After the partition, Pakistan was formed on the religious base due to which atrocities on minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Christians have increased a lot.
A day after a mob attacked holy shrine Gurudwara Nankana Sahib, a 25-year-old Sikh man was allegedly killed in Peshawar, Pakistan. Now, Sikh leader Radhesh Singh Tony has left Pakistan after facing harassment for being Sikh. Radhesh Singh decided to contest the general election of 2018 from his native area of Peshawar, after which he started receiving threats.
“I am very sad to say that I have left Pakistan to protect the lives of my family and children,” Radesh Singh told the BBC from an unknown location. If it was just me, I would never have left Pakistan, but now the issue has reached far ahead and more lives associated with me are on threat.
Singh was also attacked by armed extremists, after which he filed a complaint and made a request to Lahore Police on January 10. It was said that he was going home by bike and his son was also with him, on the way to his home, he was attacked by four unidentified men at Kacha Jail. They had a stick in their hands and a pistol in one hand. So, Radhesh was unable to fight with them and his son was brutally beaten up so he would come home quietly.
According to sources, Radhesh Singh, who fought for the rights of minorities, was a target of Muslim extremists and had to flee Pakistan after receiving several threats. Though Radhesh had criticized the Pakistan government for breaching the law and order situation of Pakistan, No strict action has been taken by the government so far.
Recently, A video of Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar went viral on social media in which he had claimed that his teammate Danish Kaneria had faced discrimination for being Hindu during his cricket career. There are several people like Radhesh Singh and Danish Kaneria in Pakistan who are still bearing tortures just because they are minorities there. It is high time the Sikh community from all over the world stood up for their rights.
