Amid the ongoing protests across the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act, the BJP party has decided to hold a massive campaign to reach out to a large number of people. The objective of this campaign is to contact over 3 crore families in the next 10 days in order to clear the air over the amended act. The party said that it would hold rallies in several districts across the country to expose lies over Citizenship Act which is being spread by opposition parties.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by BJP working president J P Nadda and convened to formulate the party’s strategy over the issue amid protests in various parts of the country against the new provision in the Citizenship Act and the proposed creation of a National Register of Citizens.
According to party general secretary Bhupender Yadav, “The BJP will reach out to over three crore families. We will organize press conferences at over 250 places in the next 10 days. In addition, over 1,000 rallies will be held to clear the air over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and to bust the myth created by the opposition.”
He added that the party will counter the “lies” of opposition parties including that of the Congress over the provisions of the new law through effective communication, while also announcing, “The BJP will take along the refugees, who come to India due to atrocities in their countries in its rallies.”
The BJP party’s move on the issue has come at a time when the deadly protests against the Citizenship Act continue to rage across the country. Protests over the amended Act have created widespread outrage among the people. Many places have seen clashes between protesters and police, while many have seen peaceful violence. Agitators vandalized government properties, pelted at police and many were injured in the protest.
However, section 144 has been imposed in many parts of India. Apart from that, internet service has been cut off in many areas in order to avoid any untoward incident.
