Religious discrimination is a never-ending issue in Pakistan which has been continuing for a long time and there is no remedy till now. In a population of over 20 crores, approximately 3.4 million people belong to the Hindu community and the majority of which are Dalits or people of Scheduled Castes.
Minorities were never treated equally, an existing issue which Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan promised to sort out the woe but hasn’t really brought about any change so far.
Even under his leadership, so many Hindus are still going through painful torture like the religious conversion (Hinduism to Islam) and forced marriages to elderly men and then Hindus are being targeted every nook and corner of the country.
In yet another incident, marginalized and oppressed Hindu community of Sindh has come under immense fire from religious fanatics who are openly calling for ‘heads of kafirs’ over allegation of blasphemy, relating to some allegedly disrespectful remarks towards the Prophet of Islam.
A Hindu school principal has been accused of blasphemy and a case has been filed against him. Despite all this, the local maulvis and jihadists started destroying Hindu properties, sacred places and their very lives are in danger.
Even in today’s world, “Riasat E Medina” of Pakistan, same old persecution of “kafir” minority seems to be the rule of the day.
This is a reality about how minorities are treated in Pakistan, which proudly calls itself a democracy.
As the leaders of the nation, they should make sure that equality is spread among the citizens. The politicians in TV channels claim that they would do anything to make the nation better if they are voted to power but they fail to stand by their words.
