Meet the oldest drug dealer in the capital, Rajrani Topli who has been selling drugs since she was 25 years old. Shocking isn’t it? Today, she is 88 years old.
She was detained for the offence when the cops raided drug dens in West Delhi. This is her tenth arrest so far.
After Topli was arrested, she was found with 16 grams of heroin which she had produced for sale, cops said.
Hailing from Inderpuri, she holds a criminal record and the widow has had a tragic life.
It was during interrogation, Topli had recalled that she moved to Inderpuri from a village in Haryana after being married as a minor.
She had 7 children who also entered the drug trade. Six of them passed away either of drug addiction or due to accidents.
After her husband passed away in the early 1990s, she took over the business and was in touch with dealers from Punjab and UP who would supply drugs in small quantities, the police said after enquiring the 88-year-old.
Cops are now in the hunt for the associates who escaped during the police raid.
DCP (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that accused Topli was arrested based on a tip-off. “A team from the narcotics squad had come to know that Topli would arrive at a location near Inderpuri to meet a supplier who would hand over a large number of drugs to her. A trap was laid and Topli was arrested,” said Bhardwaj.
The accused was booked under the NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and sent to judicial custody. Police sources added that jail terms are not a new thing for Topli, but she secured bail every time she was caught in earlier. The cops said that Topli is now guided by 2 youths who help her walk and deal in drugs.
