Jammu & Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik, on Sunday, said that terrorists should wipe out the “corrupt who have robbed their state” instead of targeting security force personnel in the first place.
Malik’s remarks came while he was addressing local residents during a tourism event in Kargil.
The governor said, ” They (referring to terrorists) are killing them unnecessarily. Why are you killing them, bhai.”
“These youth with guns, they are killing PSOs and SPOs. You should eliminate all those who have looted Kashmir, Why are you killing the security forces?”
“They (citing mainstream politicians) are telling something else here and something else in the national capital,” the governor added and also went on to add that nobody could make the government bow before a gun.
Meanwhile, former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah quickly reacted to the statement by saying, “This man tells militants to kill politicians perceived to be corrupt. Perhaps he should find out about his own reputation in Delhi before sanctioning unlawful killings and kangaroo courts.”
Malik also added that the situation in the state changed only for the better. “These boys have been indoctrinated by the mullahs that they will get jannat (paradise) hereafter, but I promise to give them two jannats- one here in Kashmir and another hereafter,” the governor added in a statement.
