A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supporter angrily cut his finger after he accidentally voted for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bulandshahr constituency, Uttar Pradesh in the second phase polling.
Pawan Kumar, while electing his representative wanted to press the button for BSP on the EVM but accidentally hit the BJP’s button. His careless error left the 25-year-old Dalit youth frustrated and in the process, he could not control his emotions as he cut off his finger in madness.
Pawan Kumar hails from Abdullapur Hulaspur village, Shantipur police station area in UP’s Bulandshahr district.
The man later posted a video to ‘regret his fault’ and since then the video of the incident is repeatedly being circulated on social media.
“He wanted to vote for SP-BSP-RLD candidate Yogesh Sharma, he ended up voting for BJP candidate from the region Bhola Singh,” said a report by India Today.
Pawan Kumar along with his brother had gone to a polling booth which was set up in the village to get their finger inked in the second phase of the ongoing elections.
He was then taken to a nearby local hospital following the incident and was discharged soon after his treatment.
