Not a long ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and urged sportspersons, Bollywood personalities, politicians among several others to do their bit in motivating the youths of the nation for a record-breaking huge voter turnout.
PM Modi tagged sports personalities like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and also non-cricketing personalities like Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, Geeta Phogat, Neeraj Chopra. Modi also tagged Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
“Voting is not only a right but it’s also a duty. It is time to inspire and motivate youth in your own Andaz to vote so that we can strengthen Apna Democracy & Apna country,” PM Modi tweeted tagging the celebrities.
Meanwhile, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday indirectly took a dig at PM Modi. He asked people to vote for Prime Minister again only if they wanted their children to become watchmen.
“Modi wants to turn India into a nation of watchmen. If you want your children to become one, vote for Modi. But if you want your children to get educated and become doctors, engineers and lawyers, vote for AAP, a party of honest and educated people,” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.
Modi last week tweeted a video with the hashtag “#MainBhiChowkidar” (I am also a watchman) and said to all those fighting corruption, dirt, social evils and striving hard for country’s progress to join the campaign “Chowkidar”. The AAP has fielded candidates in all the 7 seats in the national capital, giving a direct fight to the BJP in Delhi.
