Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan took to his official Twitter handle to tweet that he is not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. He then beefs up his statement by adding that the Peace Prize should be given to the person who effectively solves the Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Imran Khan’s statement comes days after his own government followed a policy to demand a Nobel Peace prize for their Prime Minister.
“I am not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. The person worthy of this would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace & human development in the subcontinent,” Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan wrote on Twitter.

Pakistani nationals on Friday started a petition in a bid to honour the Nobel Peace Prize for their Prime Minister Imran Khan after he announced the release of Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as a ‘gesture of peace’ only to de-escalate tensions between the two nations. Soon after his announcement, Pakistani citizens lauded Imran Khan on social media.
The users also made #NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan trending in Pakistan and also started a campaign to nominate Imran Khan to win the prize. As per Gulf News, the campaign started by Rameez Asif on the global petitioning platform called change.org.
One user wrote, “Man of strength, resilience & foresight. He is Pakistan’s version of Woodrow Wilson. Nobel Peace Prize will get it’s credibility back by being awarded to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Centuries await for a MAN like IK to be born.”
