Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday was honoured with ‘Seoul Peace Prize’ for 2018 for his immense contribution to international cooperation and stimulating global economic growth. The prestigious award was presented to him by the Seoul Peace Prize Foundation at a grand ceremony. A short film on the ‘life and achievements of Prime Minister Modi’ was displayed at the event.
Meanwhile, South Korean children sang ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye’- which is the favourite bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video of the event was shared by the spokesperson of the MEA, Raveesh Kumar on his Twitter handle.
“Have you seen a more endearing rendition of Vaishnav Jan To bhajan? Children’s choir of Indian Cultural Centre in Busan singing at the State luncheon hosted by Korean President @moonriver365 in honour of PM @narendramodi” asked Kumar in his tweet.
The children were dressed in traditional Indian garments and the sweet melody was an absolute peach to hear.

While conferring the award on PM Modi, the award committee acknowledged his contribution to the growth of Indian and global economies, appreciating ‘Modinomics’ for bridging the gap of social and economic disparity between the forward and economically backward sections of the society.
The committee also appreciated him for his contribution toward regional and global peace through a ‘proactive policy’ with countries all across the world.
“This award belongs not to me personally, but to the people of India,” PM Modi said after receiving the award. He even dedicated the entire prize money which was $ 200,000 to ‘Namami Gange Programme’, an initiative to clean river Ganges along with its conservation and preservation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the 14th recipient of the award. FYI, the Seoul Peace Prize was established in the year 1990 to remember the success of the 24th Olympic Games held in Seoul. The award was brought into effect to crystalise Korean people’s ‘yearning for peace’ on the Korean peninsula and in the rest of the world.
