UP CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials concerned to make quick arrangements for good care of ‘stray cows’. In a recent meeting with senior officials, the CM told them to form a committee to take steps for providing better shelter facilities for ‘stray cows’. He then directed chief secretary Anup Chanda Pandey to give suggestions in this matter in a week.
Yogi said in case of encroachment on grazing land for cattle, immediate measures be taken for its removal and severe action be taken against the accused, according to an official release issued here Tuesday.
Besides telling the officials to make over 750 cows shelters set up at the Zilla Panchayat, he also directed them that proper fodder, shed including drinking facilities should be provided to oxen or cows both in the rural and urban areas, the report said.
The CM said the state government has allotted Rs 10 crore to each of the 16 municipal corporations to ensure that proper shelter is done for stray cows, while Rs 1.2 crore has been handed over to every district for setting up gaushalas.
Adityanath said adding that the funds for providing shelter for cows in ’69 civic bodies’ have already been approved. So far, the work has been finished only in Bareilly and Lucknow municipal corporations.
