Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s statement sparked outrage after he remarked about the combat roles shouldn’t be performed by women in the army. In a recent interview with News18, General Rawat said that women are not fit for combat roles in the Indian army. He even listed the reasons why women are not suitable or fit for combat roles in the army.
He said adding that even if he was ready to admit female officers on the frontline, but the army was not. Explaining clearly about the statement, he said that most of the jawans come from villages and they may not accept a woman commanding them.

One more reason was that women would feel discomfort at the frontline and accuse the jawans of ‘watching’ at them while they will change clothes. Post that, he said that the woman could also lose life in the tough combat roles and the country was not ready to look at their bodies returning from the war zone.
Another reason was that when women get pregnant, the army will not be able to give them ‘6 months of maternity leave’. After watching the video, people were shocked and voiced their opinions on Twitter. Let’s take a look at these comments:-

Our first Army Chief who has openly declared that Indian army jawans are lecherous & cheapsters to the core. Till now we all were made to belive that Indian army is the most professional & disciplined force in the world.
What a morale booster for our brave & patriotic army!!!!

Women are ready for anything. It’s the General’s mindset that is the problem !

Sadly offensive to the lady officers, who serve with pride, they know how to handle themselves. Such remarks are unbecoming of the chief.

Sorry I disagree with you General. You’ve got to control your men, not deny women an opportunity to serve their country #IndianArmy

Compare him with any general of any advanced nation. Such a brainless thought from him. Remember women are tougher than men and while they fight men can raise the kids

Aren't men responsible for raising their kids too? Or are they only good at planting seeds and making sure that the women are loaded with the rest? Thankfully you didn't say women have to cook and clean and hence they are not ready for combat roles!

On the contrary
The government has ignored their ‘long-standing demand’ for higher Military Service Pay (MSP) for around 1 lakh personnel, as well as Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO’s), military sources said.
As per the reports, the Army is annoyed over the decision by the Finance Ministry and will seek its review. It has been said that around one lakh service personnel including 87,646 JCOs and 25,434 personnel from the Navy and the Indian Air Force will be badly affected by the decision.
“The proposal for higher MSP for JCOs and equivalent rank of the Navy and IAF has been rejected by the Finance Ministry,” said told PTI. As of now, the MSP has two categories namely- one for officers and another for JCOs and jawans.
