A 53-year-old man from Karnataka prevented a major train tragedy despite having a weak limb. It’s because of people like him we can say that there is still humanity left in the world. The man identified as Krishna Poojary, who is a resident of Korangrapady works at a food stall.
One day, Poojary went to the hospital as he was diagnosed with an ailment in his leg owing to which he had lost all his strength. He wasn’t financially stable and couldn’t seek further medical assistance. In a bid to provide him relief from his illness, doctors advised him to walk daily so that he can be active.
Poojary would take short walks near the Brahmasthana Nagabana area and on Saturday, he had just taken a few steps when he across cracks in the tracks.
As he stood there thinking what should he do, a train came rushing by which further widened the crack in the track. Krishna decided to run fast for 3 km to inform the officials, as reported by TOI.
The department immediately acted on Krishna’s statement and ordered to halt two trains. One train at the Indrali railway station was stopped- located around 7 km away from the said location while the other at the Padubidri railway station- around 16 km away.
“I usually walk for around 2 km. When I was taking a stroll around 6:45 am, I happened to see the crack. Soon a train passed by and the crack widened. I could only think of rushing to the officials.” Krishna told TOI.
After some time, Krishna accompanied some engineers where some immediate repairs were carried out only after which the trains were allowed to operate on tracks.
