Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan, the head of Bhim Army, who calls himself the leader of Dalits and the poor, is in tremendous discussion on social media these days. The reason is the luxurious lifestyle shown by him in America. On one hand, he claims to be the voice of Dalits in India; on the other hand, pictures and videos of his luxury in America are going viral.

Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan’s video went viral on social media, in which he was seen roaming on the streets of America in a white Rolls-Royce car worth Rs 12 crore. And he is seen in a stylish style in branded clothes. The luxurious lifestyle shown by him in America has surrounded him in controversies. On one hand, he claims to be the voice of Dalits in India; on the other hand, he is enjoying his luxury in America.
Chandrashekhar Ravan often talks about the plight of the poor and Dalit people of the country in his speeches, raises his voice against casteism, and curses the system. But these new pictures and videos of him are forcing social media users to think. Many people have raised the question, “How is a leader who calls himself a representative of the poor living such a luxurious life abroad?”
Chandrashekhar formed the Bhim Army because of caste discrimination and struggle. Bhim Army was founded by Dalit activists Satish Kumar, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Vinay Ratan Arya. This organization came into the limelight for the first time in September 2016 after the protest following the alleged beating of Dalit students in AHP Inter College, located in Chhutmalpur, Saharanpur.
The Bhim Army, which considers Bhimrao Ambedkar and Kanshiram as ideals and moves forward with their ideas, came into the news when, on 5 May 2017, violence broke out between Rajputs and Dalits in Shabbirpur village, 25 km from Saharanpur. In this violence, 25 houses of Dalits were allegedly burnt, and one person died. When a protest was held against this, the police jailed 37 people and filed a case against 300 people.
