India develops its own MRI machine, set to be installed at AIIMS Delhi

India has achieved another major milestone in the medical field. Until now, the country had to import MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machines from abroad, but this dependence will end now. India has developed its first indigenous MRI machine, which will soon be installed for trial at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Delhi.

According to sources, after examining patients with this machine for about six months, its results will be analyzed. On completion of this test, this machine can be installed in other hospitals in the country. It has been completely developed in India. It has been designed by the country’s medical and scientific institutions with indigenous technology.

On Tuesday, Delhi AIIMS signed an MoU with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to enroll in the clinical trial of the indigenous machine. During this, Dr. PH Rao, Director General of the SAMEER program of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has prepared the first MRI machine in India.

Its cost will be less than the machines imported from abroad. MRI machines are very expensive, and their cost has increased even more due to imports. But now this indigenous MRI machine will not only reduce the cost, but its availability will also increase in hospitals across the country. This will provide patients with the facility of an MRI examination at affordable rates.

According to sources, India’s indigenous machine is equipped with artificial intelligence, i.e., AI, which will help in reviewing the pictures taken during the examination. Indian scientists have prepared an algorithm for this and made it completely on state-of-the-art technology. The benefit of this will be that the test report received by the patient will also have a prediction based on the pictures, through which any doctor will be able to decide on the upcoming treatment.

The test will be 30 to 40 percent cheaper… Delhi AIIMS Director Dr. Srinivas said that after testing on all scientific parameters, this machine will be launched in India as a product.
