Chhaava movie to be screened inside Parliament, PM Modi and Amit Shah to attend

Mumbai: A special screening of the film ‘Chhaava,’ based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be held at Parliament this week. The historical film stars actor Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. The event will be held at the Balayogi Auditorium, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, other MPs, and dignitaries are likely to attend.

The screening will be attended by the film’s director, Laxman Utekar; producer, Dinesh Vijan; and the entire star cast. Vicky Kaushal, who plays the role of Sambhaji Maharaj, will also be present at the special event. Chhaava was linked to the recent violence in Nagpur. Amid the controversy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis defended the makers of ‘Chhaava’ and called the communal clashes a “pre-planned” attack.

He also said that “Chhaava,” based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has rekindled people’s sentiments against the Mughal emperor and brought the true history of the Maratha king before them. At least 34 people were injured after violence broke out in central Nagpur. Stones were pelted at the cops during the violence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has previously expressed his excitement and praise for the film Chhaava. Last month, when he addressed the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in the national capital, he said, “It is Maharashtra and Mumbai that have elevated Marathi films as well as Hindi cinema. And these days, ‘Chhaava’ is making waves.”

In December last year, the Prime Minister attended a special screening of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ at Parliament. The film is based on the 2002 Godhra train fire in which 59 people were burnt alive in the Sabarmati Express in Gujarat—an incident that is often considered the trigger for the 2002 Gujarat riots.

The film ‘Chhaava’ is based on the life of the great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the son of Shivaji Maharaj. The film depicts his bravery, strategic skills, and his struggle against Aurangzeb. It is believed that this film is not only historically important but also presents patriotism and Maratha culture in a lively manner.

The film ‘Chhaava’ is roaring in cinemas across the country at this time. Small children are seen raising slogans for Sambhaji Maharaj in the cinema halls. Audiences and critics of “Chhaava” praise Vicky Kaushal’s performance and the film’s action scenes, but some find the story and pace uneven, with the climax being particularly brutal.
