The violence that took place in Nagpur on 17 March 2025 shook the city. More than 32 policemen were injured in this attack, among them 3 were DCP rank officers. So far, 5 FIRs have been registered, and 51 people have been arrested. After the attack, it is being claimed that the violent mob selectively targeted the properties of Hindus.

Curfew continues in 11 police station areas of Nagpur even today. However, the situation in Nagpur is normal. Police are monitoring as a precautionary measure. On Tuesday night, the police conducted a flag march under the leadership of the Police Commissioner. Nagpur Police is taking stock of the areas. A decision on lifting the curfew can be taken soon. On Monday, two communities clashed violently after a rumor in Nagpur. The miscreants torched several vehicles.

Journalist Archana Tiwari reported from the place of attack in which a new claim is being made. All the vehicles that were present at the place of the attack were burned after identifying the Hindu symbols and were pelted with big stones and destroyed. The violent mob selectively targeted the properties of Hindus.

According to other sources, local BJP MLA Praveen Datke termed the incident a pre-planned conspiracy and said that all the CCTV cameras in the area were broken before the violence, which would hinder the identification of the criminals. More than 32 police personnel were injured in the stone-pelting, including 3 DCP-rank officers. The miscreants misbehaved with the female police personnel and made obscene gestures and vulgar comments. The police are investigating whether there was any well-planned conspiracy behind the violence.

The police have so far arrested 51 people and registered an FIR against 500-600 unidentified persons. Curfew is imposed in 11 police station areas of the city, while efforts are on to normalize the situation. Expressing his grief, a victim Hindu said, “If we were living in brotherhood, then what was the need for them to break shops and burn vehicles? Here in Burhanpur (a Muslim area), not even a single shop was broken. We are Hindus; all these things are happening to us. Till when will we live in brotherhood?”
