According to the BCCI’s new rule, any overseas player who does not register for the mega auction will be barred from entering the mini-auction the following year. This means that Root will also be unable to participate in IPL 2026.
The rule states: “Any Overseas Player will have to register for the Big Auction. In case the overseas player doesn’t register, then he will be ineligible to register in the following year’s player auction.”
