Oyo changes its policy, only married couples will be allowed in Oyo hotels, partner hotels align therewith in Meerut

Recently, Oyo Hotels has announced its new policy, under which only married couples will be allowed to stay in the hotel. The effect of this policy will be seen especially in Meerut city, where Oyo as well as their partner hotels have decided to follow this rule. It is believed that soon these rules can be implemented in other cities as well.

According to sources, the company has made a rule that now unmarried couples (people who are not married) will not get entry into Oyo rooms. Only married couples and family members will be allowed to check-in. This rule will also apply to online bookings. While making the booking, documents certifying the relationship of the couple, like a marriage certificate, Aadhar card, etc., will have to be presented. This rule has come into effect in Meerut with immediate effect.

Complaints were coming about Oyo rooms in which it was being said that unmarried couples book Oyo rooms on an hourly basis. It was being said in the complaints that this was having a negative impact on society. At the same time, residents of some other cities had filed a petition to not allow unmarried couples to check in at OYO hotels. The company said that this decision has been taken based on feedback received at the ground level. This rule can be gradually implemented in other cities as well. Hotels that do not follow the rules will be blacklisted.

In this regard, Pavas Sharma, Regional Head of Oyo North India, said, ‘Oyo is committed to providing safe hospitality to the people. We respect personal freedom. But we also recognize our responsibility to listen to and work with the citizens where we work. We will keep reviewing this policy and its impact from time to time.’

This company of Ritesh Agarwal earned a profit of Rs 158 crore in the second quarter of the financial year 25. In the previous quarter, this profit was Rs 132 crore.
