Kapil Sharma’s popular comedy show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, is back with its second season, entertaining audiences with its mix of humor and celebrity interactions.
In the latest episode, the star cast of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, including Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Tripti Dimri, and director Anees Bazmee graced the show with their presence.
However, a light-hearted moment quickly turned controversial when comedian Sunil Grover, who made a cameo dressed as the quirky character “Dafli,” asked Tripti Dimri a question that left her visibly uncomfortable, which sparked a social media backlash.
Meanwhile, in a video clip from the episode circulating on Netflix and social media, Grover approached Dimri with a question about her role in the movie Animal with Ranbir Kapoor.
In character as Dafli, he asked Tripti, “What you did with Ranbir Kapoor was just a shooting, right? There was nothing like this in real life?” Dimri, clearly caught off guard, responded humorously, saying, “No, there was nothing in real life.” While the studio audience and her co-stars laughed, Tripti’s reaction suggested discomfort.
Following the episode’s airing, social media users expressed disapproval of Grover’s comment, calling it “awkward” and “inappropriate.” One user remarked, “It’s very sad that this is being taken as a joke.”
Another commented, “Tripti looked uncomfortable. Why is this needle still stuck there?” Some questioned why Grover directed the joke at Tripti and not Ranbir Kapoor, with one user saying, “Why did Dafli not ask this question to Ranbir?” and another calling it “third-class comedy.”
Despite the backlash, fans of Grover argue that his humor often relies on pushing boundaries and playing eccentric characters, though many agree that keeping sensitivity in mind is crucial, especially when dealing with personal matters.
