Black side of Bollywood?  Rishi Kapoor never wanted his daughter to be an actress

Bollywood’s prestigious Kapoor family has had a deep bond with acting and art for generations. The duo of Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor has made a special mark for themselves not only on the big screen but also in real life. Rishi Kapoor was also aware of the dark side of Bollywood and hence never allowed his daughter Riddhima to enter Bollywood.

Recently, Neetu Kapoor said in an interview, that Rishi never wanted Riddhima to pursue a career in Bollywood. Riddhima was also aware of this, she grew up knowing that if she ever showed any interest in joining the film industry, her father would commit suicide. Riddhima had the talent to become an actress, but she was hesitant to express her dream as it would not be accepted by her father.

To her father, Riddhima never made an effort to pursue a profession in acting. Instead, she chose to pursue a career in fashion designing for which she completed her studies from London. She is a stunning girl with extraordinary potential. She can outshine any actor since she is an excellent mimic. However, she never sought a Bollywood career for her father.

In those days, the women of the Kapoor clan were known to stay away from the camera. Raj Kapoor’s daughters and nieces were never a part of films. His daughters-in-law Babita and Neetu Kapoor also retired from acting soon after marriage. Similarly, Neetu, who also quit her career at 21, said Rishi was afraid of the “ugly side of stardom”.

Rishi Kapoor, who was a successful actor himself, knew how difficult it is to survive in the industry. It is not just a glamorous life but also a test of mental and physical endurance. Neetu Kapoor said that Rishi wanted a normal and secure life for his daughter, which he might not have got in the film industry. Riddhima too did not enter the film industry respecting her family’s sentiments and chose fashion design as her career.
