Flipkart, which is one of India’s leading e-commerce giants, has recently come under fire after a customer claimed to have received a set of speakers worth ₹2,300 instead of the high-end ₹30,000 speakers he ordered.
This incident has sparked widespread criticism and raised concerns about the company’s quality control and customer service standards. The issue came to light when a frustrated customer took to social media to share his disappointing experience.
He had placed an order for a premium set of speakers priced at INR 30,000, expecting to receive a top-quality product. However, what arrived was a far cheaper set, valued at just INR 2,300, leading to frustration and disbelief.
The customer’s complaint quickly went viral, with many others sharing similar experiences of receiving incorrect or lower-value items from the platform.
What happened?
According to a Delhi-based businessman, his friend recently had a disappointing experience with Flipkart. He ordered a premium Sonos speaker worth Rs 30,000, but when the package arrived, it contained a much cheaper MI Bluetooth speaker valued at just Rs 2,300.
Feeling frustrated by this mix-up, Abhishek Bhatnagar, a well-known figure on social media with over 66,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), decided to voice his concerns online. He shared his friend’s ordeal, highlighting that despite multiple attempts to get the issue resolved, Flipkart failed to provide a satisfactory solution. This incident has sparked a debate about the reliability of the e-commerce giant’s customer service and its ability to handle such mistakes effectively.
“My friend (Nikhil) ordered a Sonos speaker worth ₹30,000, and he got a Mi Bluetooth ₹2400 INR speaker in a box of Sonos. Even after multiple follow-ups and complaints, Flipkart and Flipkart Support do not care to respond to or resolve this. My friend also recorded a video of the unboxing, which I have attached as proof and some photos. It is quite sad that even when a customer has proof of a fake or wrong product delivered, they do not care to respond. I will soon be posting the unboxing video as proof if they do not resolve this. Also, he has submitted the video proof as well, but there is still no resolution and no refund. Flipkart should be renamed to Fraudkart.
Additionally, Bhatnagar posted an unpacking video showing that the Flipkart package was sealed, and the Sonos speaker box appeared to be securely packaged. However, there is no footage of the Flipkart customer actually opening the Sonos speaker box itself. Moreover, photos shared online also showed the Sonos speaker box containing the Mi Bluetooth speaker, but none of these images captured the original Sonos packaging being opened. This lack of clear evidence has led to some skepticism among viewers, raising questions about what might have happened during the delivery process.
