Pakistan: crowds assault  a Muslim girl for not wearing Hijab

Pakistan has recently witnessed a shocking and horrible incident. A mob attacked on Muslim girl who was not wearing a hijab. This is an indication that society is morally bankrupt and that there are people who still think they should oversee what women wear.

Hijab: A personal choice or social obligation?

To wear or not to wear a hijab should be every woman’s decision. The hijab has a specific religious significance in Islam, but it should not be mandatory for every Muslim woman to wear it. The woman should choose to wear it of her own choice. This incident shows that some people are trying to impose their religious beliefs on others, which is absolutely wrong.

Violation of Women’s Freedom and Rights

Such incidents go against the freedom of women and their rights. A lady can decide how she wants her body and attire. There should be no society dictating terms for women according to its own beliefs.

The viral video has been shared by the Twitter handle ‘trunicle’. In the video, a Muslim woman can be seen being harassed by a huge crowd because she is not wearing a hijab. It should be a woman’s own choice to wear or not wear a hijab and no one should be pressurized in this manner. After watching the video, users have shared various reactions.

A user writes, ‘Then why do they say hijab is a woman’s choice?’

Another user writes, ‘I’m thinking about the Girls presence of mind that time. The level of mental torture, she was facing in that moment, the level of these radicals physically harassing her. No girl can tolerate this type of Mob harassment.’

Another user writes, ‘The moment they see a girl without a hijab, the savage animal inside them comes out.’

Another user writes, ‘I don’t understand. Is it religion or poverty, or are there just a few people responsible for this behavior? I want to say some people but many blame poverty and few on religion.’
